ANNUAL CARBOOT SALE

Park around Sports Hall, Pezilla-la-Rivière

The l’Association Pézilla Say’ has  organised a car boot sale for five years, and has a very good reputation amongst participants and visitors, due to their thorough and exceptionally warm welcome.

“The price is 8€ for a ‘plot’ 4 meters wide. Most carboot sales have raised their prices this year, but we decided not to make it anymore difficult as most people are finding times hard. It takes place on the park which surrounds the Sports Hall, parking is no problem, several are available, one specifically reserved for the participants and another for visitors.

This is our 6th. year, and we have a very good reputation amongst participants and visitors due to our thorough and exceptionally warm welcome. The price is 8€ for a ‘plot’ 4 meters wide. Most carboot sales have raised their prices this year, but we decided not to make it anymore difficult as most people are finding times hard .It takes place on the park which surrounds the Sports Hall, parking is no problem, several are available, one specifically reserved for the participants and another for visitors.”

The association works in close collaboration with the Mairie of Pézilla la Rivière, to raise money for projects in the village of Say in Niger, West Africa. They organise a book festival in April, a ‘Fete’ on the 13th July where all the different clubs of Pézilla set up ‘bodegas’ animated by different musical groups, and the car boot sale in September.

So far, they have financed a micro credit programme for the women, machines for grinding oil, rather than manual ones, training for the assistants who teach the local women how to use these machines efficiently, family planning, sewing machines and various other equipment for the women’s institutes.

The Mairie of Pézilla is an ‘official’ partner within the ‘Coopération Décentralisée’, a kind of ‘aerial’ of the French Foreign Ministry dealing with all the villages and towns that are ‘twinned’ with partners in Niger, West Africa. The principal aim of the ‘Coopération Décentralisée’ is not that of a charity, but to finance projects that develop and improve their local economy.
