Irish Whiskey tasting – for charity

1st December 2017

Irish Whiskey tasting

The Lions Club Perpignan Rois de Majorque is organising an Irish Whiskey Tasting evening at the Mediatheque in Saint-Feliu-D’Amont on Friday 1 December at 8pm. The proceeds of the evening will go to Handi-Chiens an organisation that provides helper dogs to handicapped people.

We will be tasting 6 different whiskeys including a couple voted ‘Best in the World’ by Whisky Magazine. The tasting will be accompanied by a traditional Irish meal.

This follows last year’s highly successful Scotch Whisky Tasting evening which resulted in a donation of €1,000 to Handi-Chiens.

The price for admission is €30, or €50 for a couple. You can reserve your places or request more information by emailing whiskey@aw66.fr

The Lions Club Perpignan Rois de Majorque is unique in the area in that it is very international and currently has an English president. We are always on the look-out for new members.

What’s the difference between whiskey and whisky?

Simple. Whisky describes the Scotch variety and whiskey denotes  Irish and American varieties.

The word itself (both spellings) is of Celtic origin, and modern whisky/whiskey distillation practices originated in Ireland and Scotland. Using whiskey to refer to Scotch whisky can get you in trouble in Scotland.
