SUMMARY:CSF Charity Art Sale: Works by Bridget Rook-Waterhouse
DESCRIPTION:CSF Charity Art Sale: Works by Bridget Rook-Waterhouse\nBridget Rook-Waterhouse\, a well known local artist\, had already spent many years in the UK as a full-time artist before moving to Céret. One of her reasons for making the move was the discovery\, while on holiday\, of the Sant Roch workshop of Pierre Grau\, an unconventional artist\, who runs acrylic painting classes as well as life-drawing and sculpting.\nBridget\, while staying in the region\, has once again moved house and\, following the down-size\, has very generously donated her art works to CSF. \nDo go along and join them for afternoon tea and to meet the artists on Sunday 23rd October between 2pm and 4pm. Bridget’s work will\, of course\, be on display. There will be an auction of some of her work starting at 3pm and the remainder will be available for a donation to CSF. \nRita has kindly offered to host this event in her lovely garden at Vila Tany-Kely\, 5 Impasse Oulrich 66400 Céret (turn off the D115 at the Clinique Veterinaire).  Please keep your fingers crossed for sunshine and a lovely afternoon for us all. \nPlease feel free to pass this invitation on to your friends and neighbours! \n\nThe artist\nBridget’s work is mostly in acrylic and covers a wide range of styles\, from fantasy collage to dramatic life-sketches. She has always been an artist at heart\, but felt very constrained in her early years at Tonbridge Grammar School in Kent: \n“The art teacher liked us to be precise\, drawing plants and flowers with an H pencil\, or spending hours ruling out a piece of lettering in Roman capitals. It was pretty soul-destroying!” she says. \n“I wanted to go to Art School when I left Tonbridge\, but in those days (quite a long time ago!) one had little choice\, and I was bustled off to earn a living. Fortunately\, I ended up working in women’s magazines\, and\, although I was not an ‘artist’ in the magazine sense\, I spent a lot of time carousing in the art department! \n\nThen I had the opportunity to move to Norfolk\, and enrolled at the Norwich School of Art. “I won’t say I learnt all I ever wanted to know about art there\, but it was a useful exercise\, and I tried out things like etching for the first time.” “Now\, however\, I just take the easy route: I carry a little sketch-pad wherever I go\, and I paint whatever I feel like\, when I feel like it!” smiles Bridget\, who is known as “Brigitte” to her French friends. \n\nYou can find out more about Bridget via her website here. \n \nShare this:\n Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Click to share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n\n	Related\n
