DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n \n\nHello Everyone\n\nI heard a blackbird the other day and was immediately transported back into an English country garden.  As I sat sipping my rosé in the shade of a massive Faut-poivrier\, after a day when temperatures had risen above 35 degrees\, his evening song felt a little out of place.  \n\nI’m sure that wherever you are\, there’s at least one of our Drop Ins nearby.   At each venue there is always someone from our support team who can sit down for a quiet chat over coffee.  It’s also a chance to meet and catch up with friends\, especially at this time of year when you have family visiting – bring them along.  \n\nHere are this month’s dates:-\n\nWednesday 2 August  –    Céret    –    10.30-12\nPablo’s Bar in the Place Pablo Picasso.  This is the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere.  Books and DVDs here too.\n\nWednesday 16 August  –  Ile sur Têt  –   10-12\nLizzie’s Kitchen is open to all.  Come and join us for coffee\, tea and cake.   Bring your old paperbacks and exchange them for some summer reading.\n\nMonday 21 August   –    Laroque    –    10.30-12    \nAt the Café des Artistes there’s always a good turn-over of paperbacks\, English and French.  Also CDs and DVDs.  You can buy a coffee and take two books. \n\n\nLOOKING AHEAD\n\n\n\nSunday 10th September ACTIVITY FOR LIFE 2017 Maureillas\n\nBetween the 9th and the 24th September this year every CSF association across France will be holding an Activity for Life event.  In the P-O this will be a day of activities (and picnics) for all\, based at Prat de Farga (not far from the Le Boulou exit of the A9) – the big field with parking and plenty of facilities in Maureillas. \n\nThere will be 2 sponsored walks.  \nWalk 1 of approximately 10km will be up the hill (370m) to the Dolmen de la Siureda with great views. This is a way-marked route but there will also be a walk leader.  \nWalk 2 is a shorter stroll\, along flat lanes\, of approximately 5km. Dogs on leads will be welcome to walk with their owners\, and there will be a prize of a portrait of the dog whose owner raises the most sponsorship\n \nAlso on offer will be a (friendly) pétanque tournament\, or a gentle stroll along the riverside\, or give your muscles a workout on the new outdoor fitness circuit.  Or just come and support the walkers and players\, enjoy your picnic and the festive (sometimes musical) ambiance.  Tables and chairs will be provided.\n\nAfter lunch\, wonder at the fabulous Castellera Els Angelets del Vallespir – the traditional human towers of Catalunya. \nTo find out more do look at http://anglophone-direct.com/castells-in-the-air/   Be part of the pinya?\n\nIn order to fund the centrally organised CSF training programme\, 50% of sums raised will be donated to CSF National.    If you would like to do either of these sponsored walks\, play pétanque\,  or help as a volunteer\, please email Lynn (lynnrhall66@gmail.com) and she will send you a registration form for activities (fee of 5€) and to order your CSF teeshirt (5€) \, plus details of the chosen CSF sponsorship giving site.  \n\n On site there will be a bar with modestly priced wine\, beer\, soft drinks\, tea\, coffee and water.  Expect stands with a cake sale\, paperback books\, bric-a-brac\, CSF items\, and Christmas cards. \n\nDO PLEASE PUT THE 10TH SEPTEMBER IN YOUR DIARIES NOW.\nSee you in Maureillas!\nThis event replaces the “At Home at Caixas”.\n\nSaturday 14 October     AUTUMN BALL Bages\n\nWe know that we can count on your support at what is always a very relaxed evening\, sitting with friends\, joining in the fun and winning some prizes. \n\nMusic will be provided by the band Zircon.  There‘ll be an Auction of Promises where our Master of Ceremonies will act as Auctioneer.  More about the Promises next month.  Also\, a bottle stall and a tombola and as usual we are asking for donations.  We’d be very grateful if you could bring along your bottles and/or tombola prizes to one of our Drop Ins or just drop me a line and we can arrange a pick up.  (Please email me if you would like more information.)\n\nThe ticket price of €15 includes a Tapas style meal + dessert and a glass of wine.  Wine\, beer and soft drinks will be on sale at the bar.  Tickets will be on sale very soon.\n\nThursday 30 November SCOTTISH & COUNTRY DANCING   Eus \nSt Andrews Day Maison du Temps Libre 7 – Midnight\n\nThis is an afternoon of music and dance – Scottish\, country and disco.   There will be a cold buffet with a glass of wine.  Also a bottle stall and ‘Roll a Euro’ which could win you either a bottle of whisky or champagne!\nAll this for only €10.  Tickets will be on sale from the beginning of September until the beginning of November.  The money raised from our event will be divided between CSF and Resto Du Coeur.  Numbers are limited to 70 so make a note in your diary for September to contact Maggie (maggie.longworth@gmail.com) or Gill (gillharrison66@gmail.com) for tickets.\n\n \nThere’s a lot to read and take in this month\, sponsoring walks\, bringing bottles and prizes and just putting dates in the diary for events coming up.  As enjoyable as they are\, these events do an important job – they tell people about Cancer Support France and they raise money for funding the work it does – providing support for cancer sufferers\, their families and their carers.   We know we couldn’t do it without you so may I say a big thank-you to everyone for your continued help and support.\n\nAll the best\nDiana Eastaff\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=””]Please pass this on to anyone you know who may be interested in any of these events and for further information please contact me by e-mail on deastaff@yahoo.co.uk or by phone 04 68 82 90 49. \nAnd check out our website at csf-suddefrance.webs.com for all our future events[/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row] \nShare this:\n				Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n				Facebook\n			\n				Click to share on X (Opens in new window)\n				X\n			\n				Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n				LinkedIn\n			\n				Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n				Pinterest\n			\n\n	Related\n
