SUMMARY:CSF NEWSLETTER: NOVEMBER 2018
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\nHello Everyone\nThose of you with a dog or a baby don’t have the luxury of waiting for a warm\, sunny afternoon before you venture out.  Dogs need a walk.  Babies need to sleep.  I’ve done the hour and half route-march with a pram but I’ll never be pulled along by a dog – not while I’m married to this husband anyway.  Rain or shine\, hang around indoors at this time of year and you miss the colours of autumn. \nWe had a very successful Autumn Ball on October 13th.  We cleared just under €1500 before a donation of €200 to La Ligue as their share of the Tombola proceeds.  A great result.   Our thanks to everyone who came and supported us so generously and also to all our helpers who worked hard on the night to make this such a super evening.\nCLICK HERE  to download Touchlines\, the CSF quarterly Newsletter.  It is packed with information about CSF associations across France.  You might be surprised to see what our friends get up to in other parts of the country!\nAs you probably know\, The Connexion is a monthly newspaper and news website for the English-speaking expatriate community in France.   If you have a look at this website you’ll see that they produce a calendar each year and give each of three charities\, which includes CSF\, €1 or thereabouts for every calendar bought.  Just click on the calendar and order online.  You’ll be helping us and perhaps adding an idea or two to your Christmas present list.\n\n\nAt the Drop Ins this month tickets for the Autumn Ball will be on sale\nWednesday 7 November –  Céret    –    10.30-12\nCome and have a chat at Pablo’s Bar – meet up with friends and browse through the books. . \n\nMonday 19 November –    Laroque    –    10.30-12 \nAt the Café des Artistes there’s always a good turn-over of paperbacks\, English and French.  Also CDs and DVDs.  You can buy a coffee and take two books.\n\nWednesday 21 November  –   Eus    –    10-12\n\nAt Lizzie’s kitchen this month we have Ginny Martin showing us how to make Christmas  wreaths.   We will all have a chance to have a go ourselves and Ginny will bring the materials but if you have anything colourful in the garden like berries or hips\, please bring them along.  Talk to Maggie (maggie.longworth@gmail.com) if you need to know anything. \n\nThursday 15 November  Conference VAINCRE LE CANCER 2-7pm\nPalais de Congrès – Perpignan\nThis conference is organised by ONCO-PO (Le Centre de Coordination en Cancérologie des Pyrénées-Orientales).  It takes place every year and CSF always have a stand.\n\nCancer Specialists present to the public the various preventative measures\, the latest therapeutic advances and the proposed support given to patients throughout their care pathway.  They will be there to discuss various topics and answer your questions.\n\n\nClick here for  the programme.  If there is something that interests you\, do come along.  It’s free\, everyone is welcome and during the conference you can come and go as you like. \n\n\nSunday 25 November     10th CHRISTMAS MARKET  9.30 – 5.30  \nThe Christmas Market at St Jean Pla de Corts is celebrating its 10th Year!\nCSF will have a Tombola raffle and a stall selling books\, Christmas cards\, notelets\, umbrellas\, tea towels and Marzipan Fruits made by our own fair hands!\n\nWe could always do with some more Tombola prizes so if you have an unopened gift or a nice bottle of wine which has been gathering dust (?!) or a nearly-new something you think might be suitable\, please bring it along to one of our Drop Ins.  We’d be very grateful.\n\nThere will be arts & craft stalls\, cards and gifts\, stocking fillers\, homemade Christmas puddings and cakes and mince pies\, Father Christmas and Christmas Carols and masses of British food products.\n\n\nLizzie Smith will be running the cafe and selling tea\, coffee\, cakes and sandwiches.   \n\nLOOKING AHEAD\n\nWednesday 30 January AGM CSF Sud de France Carcassonne 10.15 \nRestaurant L’Oliveraie\, 850 Boulevard Denis Papin\, 11000 Carcassonne (just off the A61)\n\nIt’s the 10th Anniversary of CSF Sud de France so at the meeting we’ll be looking back as well as forward.  All are welcome but only members can vote.\n\n\nThere’ll be a lot more information next month so please make a note of the date and try and come to this special AGM.  Remember\, car-sharing is always a possibility. \n\n\nWednesday 10 April CSF Open Meeting Perpignan\nThis is our annual get-together when we meet up for a short meeting and a long lunch!  It’s very informal and everyone is welcome. \nI’m pleased to say that we will again be at the Hotel Le Mas des Arcades and will taste the delights of their fabulous restaurant La Table de Mas.\nThe meeting will start at around 10.15 and end with a three-course lunch.\n\nPlease make a note of the date.  \n\n\nWednesday 15 May – Sunday 19 May CSF National Cycle for Life 2019 \nIn May 2019 our cycle ride will take place over 5 days in the Languedoc-Roussillion!\n\nParticipants will cycle through some of the most diverse landscapes\, cycling from Mazamet in the Montagne Noire to Bedarieux (Haut Langudeoc national Park) and then from Beziers to Perpignan where we expect a big welcome on our home turf!\n\nThe route distances will be between 40km and 50km per day suitable for novice cyclists and families.  For up to date information keep an eye on the dedicated website.  If you are interested in riding then please drop Sasha a line at admin@cancersupportfrance.org \n\nIf you feel you may be able to help at any time during the five days\, then please let Penny know (sud-president@cancersupportfrance.org).  There is no obligation at this early stage in the planning\, but it will ensure that you are kept up to date as plans progress.\n\nDiana Eastaff\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=””]Are you interested in finding out more about what CSF does?  If so please email Penny
