DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nCHARITY VIDE GRENIER\, SAINT CYPRIEN\nThe Lions Club Saint-Cyprien Doyen Côte Radieuse is organising a charity vide grenier at the Grand Stade les Capellans in Saint Cyprien on Sunday 22nd March.  \nAll proceeds from the rental of the space for stands will go to charity.  \nWhat a great way to spend a sunny Sunday and do something for a good cause. \nStall holders do not have to be local and both residents and non residents alike can book space at the Maison des Associations at the Port during the following times: \n♧ Thursday 3rd & Thursday 10th October 2pm – 4pm\n♧ Friday 4th & Friday 11th October 10am – 12pm \nYou can also book a place at the stadium itself on Saturday 12th October from 10am – 12pm. \nPrice: 3 metres 10€. Photocopied ID required for stallholders. \nFor more info: contact@lionsclub-saintcypriendoyen.org \n\n\n\n\nThe sale of food or drink (including for animals) is NOT permitted\nRefreshments\, croissants\, hot & cold drinks\, sandwiches etc. will be available from the Lion’sBar. \n\n\n\n\nHistory of the Lions Club\nThe International Association of Lions Clubs began as the dream of Chicago businessman Melvin Jones. He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large. \nJones’ group\, the Business Circle of Chicago\, agreed. After contacting similar groups around the United States\, an organisational meeting was held on 7th June 1917 in Chicago. The new group took the name of one of the invited groups\, the “Association of Lions Clubs\,” and a national convention was held in Dallas in October of that year. A constitution\, by-laws\, objects and code of ethics were approved. \nAmong the objects adopted in those early years was one that read\, “No club shall hold out the financial betterment of its members as its object.” This call for unselfish service to others remains one of the association’s main tenets. \nJust three years after its formation\, the association became international when the first club in Canada was established in 1920. Major international expansion continued as clubs were established\, particularly throughout Europe\, Asia and Africa during the 1950s and 1960s. \nIn 1925\, Helen Keller addressed the Lions international convention in Cedar Point. She challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” From this time\, Lions clubs have been actively involved in service to the blind and visually impaired. \nBroadening its international role\, Lions Clubs International helped the United Nations form the Non-Governmental Organizations sections in 1945 and continues to hold consultative status with the UN. \nIn 1990\, Lions launched its most aggressive sight preservation effort\, SightFirst.
