DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThe eco festival promises to be a lively event particularly on the Sunday 14th May from 10am to 6 pm. with the emphasis once again on local sourcing of quality products (mainly food ) to reduce transport costs and support local economies plus renewable energy (lots of wood and sunshine in the department). \nLots of other activities to interest the whole family taking place in and around the Salle Polyvalent (on the left after the old station\, bear left at the roundabout when arriving in Arles). \nPlus the craft/artists workshops based in the old Mill buildings nearby where some very talented people are producing an interesting range of products\, great for presents or treat yourself! \nIncludes stands of local tradesmen\, farmers and smallholders\, mini farm\, workshops and demonstrations plus a vide grenier. SUMMARY:GIRONA FLOWER FESTIVAL 2017
DESCRIPTION:Every May  Girona covers itself in Flowers.\nParks and gardens offer free admission (though monument and heritage sites do make a charge so worth checking in advance). \n \nPublic buildings and private gardens are decorated with magnificent floral motifs\,  created by both professionals and amateurs\,  transforming the medieval city into a spectacle of glorious scents\, textures and colours. \nDon’t miss the Cathedral\, San Lluc church\, Sant Feliu basilica\, San Marti church and the Arab Baths amongst other flower bedecked delights. Many spaces in the old quarter to which the public are not normally invited open their doors to visitors. \n \nIt started as a small flower show and competition over 50 years ago\, and has grown into a festival of floral decorations of all shapes and sizes. \nHuge numbers of visitors are drawn to the Old City to wander and enjoy the decorations embellishing the ancient stones and historic buildings and enjoy the charm and originality of the artistry. \n \nAnd for anyone interested in Gardens\, Girona’s Botanic Gardens at Cap Roig\, Calella de Palafrugell are well worth a visit. \nIn 1924 Col. and Madame de Woevodsky built a castle\, planted 40ha with pines and laid out the garden. \nThe Gardens run to the edge of the cliffs\, glimpses of turquoise Mediterranean jewel like between the pines trees. \nArrangements of cactus\, of iris\, of shrubs and flowering trees are works of art\, the only danger the temptation to linger too long and miss the plane. \nFind out more about Girona\n
