Re: Quarantine

My daughter and her family, who have been staying in our house in PV (in a part of France where there have, of course, been very few cases) There might have been very few cases in the PO but currently the coastal area is packed with visitors from all regions of France so we must all take care. The customer service number is 1023. It is a normal French service but they are helpful and you might be lucky and get someone who speaks English.

Which are you using, Openoffice or Libreoffice? They are slightly divergent forks of the same thing originating years ago with Star Office. I use Libreoffice exclusively which seems to be better supported than Openoffice although they should both open .odt files O.K. Have you tried opening the Openo...

Facebook!! 🤮 I couldn't agree more. It might be useful for keeping in touch with friends and family but it is so difficult to find a post you are interested in amongst all the dross. Why do people think that anyone is interested in a photo of their lunch or a post about their first glass of wine (w...

StopCovid App

The French version of the track and trace app was released on Tuesday for Android and Apple phones. I installed it and it seems to work and is quite straightforward. There have been some concerns about privacy but it does seem to be pretty secure and doesn't actually record your position, only the f...

Just spent an hour doing my shopping with Super-U Drive. Nearly finished my list when I was logged out. Now it won't accept my password and the system for entering a new password is broken

Had to visit the Centre de Pneumonology in Perpignan on Tuesday and there was a big bottle of hand sanitiser on the reception counter and a notice asking you to use it both on entering and leaving. So some people are taking notice.

Hygene - particularly important now!

On Monday I visited the Super U supermarket in Ille-sur-Tet. I had to use the toilet and went to wash my hands afterwards. There was no soap in either dispenser in the gents so after just using cold water I informed their reception desk. Today I re-visited and checking found that there was still no ...

Most of the arguments for Brexit seem to have been proved to be nonsense, the referendum outcome was marginal and yet a second vote seems to be totally out of the question.
IMHO not just nonsense but downright lies designed to bring out the worst in people.

I doubt that there are any bars near Millas that show English football but the French subscription TV channel "CANAL+ Sport" broadcasts live games from the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, and others and can be received off air or via the internet.

There are a number of suppliers. I got mine from Bip&Go https://www.bipandgo.com/le-telepeage/
It works in Spain as well as France.

They also have a website in English: https://www.bipandgo.com/en/ and will ship the unit to the UK.

I also have an aversion to all the stupid 'targeted' adverts for whatever I have been looking at on the net even after I have bought something.
I find that the Firefox addon "uBlock" does a very good job of removing spurious adverts.

Unless things have changed recently, if you own property here there should be no problem. A utility bill or tax d'habitation bill will be sufficient proof of address. Best to ask at the Prefecture though.
