Looking at the news this morning I don't think anybody in their right mind would want to cross the border into Calatonian Spain.

Re: Crossing from France to Spain and Back

I read in the local press that a noticeable proportion of new Covid19 cases in the P-O have in common that the infected person has recently crossed the border into Catalonia. You may be able to go there but is it worth it?

In a similar vein. There have been a couple of reportages on FR3 recently about initiatives for performances under the current restrictions. There has been at least one drive-in pop concert so far and there are plans for outdoor cinemas during the holiday season. It would be fun to see the abandonde...

If your French is up to it, or you know someone who can help, you might try phoning the Police Municipal. If anybody knows what to do they will.

Slightly old news. Happened last Saturday and was reported at the time in the local press. The "victim" was fined 135 Euros for non respect of the confinement rules.

Re: Banned from the beach

Very few people live within walking distance of the beaches. Therefore those wishing to use them will have to travel further from home than is sensible under the current restrictions. Thus closing the beaches removes a very real temptation.

Regrettably I can only agree with the comments made by Bob Chambers concerning the soi disant "Catalans". A friend lives in a quartier inhabited almost exclusive by Catalan sympathisers. She describes an inward looking and unfriendly attitude towards those they view as outsiders. She and her husband...

The End of the Line?

I don't know what happened yesterday. I tried to write a few words but it didn't work. So here we go again! As of yesterday this forum had been inactive for a fortnight. There are thousands of English speakers in the PO and yet here silence reigns supreme. Why? There is so much going on but not a di...

According to my OH, if you have a car with a towbar, you can hire a vehicle trailer. Or simply follow on behind with a tow rope and avoid the autoroutes.

Is data protection killing the web? Maybe. But isn't it people who are doing the damage? Rapacious heads of companies like Facebook creating monsters that they cannot control. Or just people who can't control themselves. There's a current thread on here asking why is the forum so quiet. Recent event...

Re: Forum quiet

Yes, you are quite right. Public trust in social media is greatly diminished. Who really wants to share experiences or information when there is a real risk of verbal abuse in one form or another? Or unreasonable censorship? In the last few days we've had the calamity in Paris and a major disruption...
