Manchester to Bezier flights June 2020 + Canal du Midi

Hi, This is a bit of pre-planning for a trip on the Canal du Midi next June. Can we expect the flights from Manchester to be on Thursday and Saturday afternoons as at present? That is with Brexit and Ryanair's whims not withstanding. There is currently an advance booking deal with Le Boat that knock...

Re: 4G Internet

A big thank you for this thread! We're just too far from the exchange for ADSL to get over 1Mb/s so have been using Nordnet's satellite service for the last 6 years. At 40 euro a month for an average of 1 to 2Mb/s it works for normal email and browsing, but is pony for downloading. There has been ta...

Thanks Russell, Now I know the correct nomenclature I've found a few others. http://www.fete-en-fete.com has a really big selection and I need to find something that is a decent fit (bearing in mind that my Pere Noel costume requires no stuffing at all... ). Not sure about what GiFi has to offer - o...

Costume / fancy dress hire

Does anyone know where you can hire a fancy dress costume in the area?

Our village has an annual carnival evening coming up and we don't think we can go as Cowboy and Nurse once again!

When I was in Canada at this time last year, I overheard a contractor talking about something he had done to help a landlord with tenants that didn't pay. He simply took the outside doors off the property! Bear in mind the temperature at the time was around minus 20 degrees C! Apparently this was qu...

If you try my route, there is cheap fuel available at the Carrefour at exit 12 of the A75, then at the HyperU at Dreux (straight on at the first roundabout at Dreux, but do check it online - it's easy to end up going to Paris by mistake!) or the LeClerc Drive after Saint-Remy-Sur-Avre and before Non...

Take the A9 north to Beziers. A9 exit 35 - follow signs for Clermont Ferrand A75. At Clermont-Ferrand the A75 becomes the A71. Follow signs for Orleans. At Orleans follow signs for Paris (the A71 becomes the A10 here). Take A10 exit 12 following signs for Chartres. You will be on the N154 all the wa...

My point exactly. It says: "if you’re on Pay As You Go you'll need to convert your Pay As You Go credit into an Add-on to get an allowance." I didn't want it, so didn't convert any credit into an Add-on, which means they should never have enabled it. I just want to pay the normal (higher) roaming ch...

Hi,

I could really do with some replies to this as 3 are refusing to reconnect me.

Other half's phone still working fine.

Next step could be the Ombudsman.

Anyone using 3 Pay as you Go?

Earlier this year, the UK mobile network 3 introduced "Feel at Home", so that their customers could use their call allowances while on holiday in specified countries as if they were at home, and so avoid high roaming charges. I checked their website to find out that I would have to convert some of m...

You won't have a problem. LCD TV's will accept any TV standard.

SECAM was a standard for analogue transmission in France (and Russia, but with a different polarity).

Just plug it in - it will work.

Reeves Pheasant

Not quite sure if this should be in "the Great Outdoors" or "Pets" section. We have a male Reeves Pheasant that appears to be trying to adopt us. It has been around in the early evenings the last few days and been following me around the garden. There is a bit of damage to the tip of his beak and so...

Bird tapping on window!

The last week or so we've been plagued by a little yellow bird tapping on our lounge windows. I believe it might be a grey wagtail from looking at photos on t'internet. Our lounge windows are well shaded due to the thickness of the stone walls, so I was wondering if this is a male bird doing battle ...

Rain damage to driveway - insurance claim?

Not sure whether this or the Property forum is the right place to ask the question, but as it's about Insurance, let's start here. The 300mm plus rain of last weekend caused a veritable cascade of water running off the hillside above our property down our drive, which has left considerable damage do...

Registering an American car in France

I've got a friend who is thinking of buying a new Ford Mustang in the USA (25k US$) and importing it here.

I seem to remember that someone said there was a problem with Certificates of Conformity for US cars.

Any sage advice (beyond buying the car in France...)?

Cheers,

Before we moved down permanently, we left our car at the airport all year on a season ticket. Make sure you have a locking fuel cap (lost half a tank once!). Generally park along the fence at the west side of the parking to avoid getting scraped by the less careful parkers. Never park near a walkway...

Thanks again.

11 euros a day is pretty good.

After only 2 days of sunshine it's up to 17 degrees. I'd like it at about 24, but we had our inaugural dip last year at 20 degrees.

Might be swimming over the Easter weekend after all!

Thanks Allan for the reply. Informative as always. So, without the heater it's going to take a while to heat...

Nordnet "up to" 8 Mbps, which is in reality 1 to 2 Mbps and useless for streaming and downloading.
