Since last year the rabies vaccine (Rabisin) only needs to be done three yearly in France. Vet should automatically mark the rappel date for 3 years. Chppi is still annual, as is kennel cough if you have that done.

It's a closed group for two reasons. Firstly, to make sure that it's a safe space for people to talk about fears, problems and whatever. And secondly, because when you have nearly 5000 members you attract a serious level of trolling if you're an open group! As it is, we currently refuse 50% of appli...

Shame I don't need you at my Ariège house, Toto. Nothing approaching a mobile phone signal there!

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but I just wanted to comment very favourably on the new parking at Carcassonne airport - what a difference! Lots of space, slightly cheaper long stay parking in P3, plus access directly from the Mirepoix road (a plus for me as I come from that direction). I'v...

Hi Nigel PUMA will cover you to the fullest extent possible within the French health care system - ie you'll only pay the non-covered percentage (which varies according to what the treatment is). To cover that part, you'd need to take out a mutuelle or top-up insurance with a private company, just a...

It used to be that one person could piggy-back onto a spouse's health care, but that was stopped in January this year for new entrants (and will be phased out gradually for those of us already in the system), meaning that each person now has to have their own way in to the system. So, there are vari...

I've used the Latour de Carol service a few times now (to Foix) - it's a brilliant way to travel, for around 30 euros if you get advance 'Prems' tickets. Lovely to lull yourself to sleep to the gentle juddering of the train. Certainly not just Aussie kids - all sorts of people of all ages (and lots ...

My mother used a proper pie funnel, which I'm surprised to find you can still get Mine too ... she had it as a wedding present in 1939. It survived frequent use until she died in 1996, and now I have it along with her old china rolling pin, which dates from the same era. I rarely use the pie funnel...

Replacing glass in double glazed porte-fenêtre?

Can anyone recommend a firm or person that will do this without it costing more than a complete new unit? We have 3 identical double doored porte-fenêtres, but one of them has obviously failed and there is now a kind of dirty fug between the two panes. Don't want to replace the door completely as I ...

I've been to vide greniers where sellers have had poster-size photos of large pieces of furniture on their stands alongside other items that they're selling ... might be worth considering if you did a local vide? You could then take anybody interested to have a look there and then.

There's a specific agglomerate sold as a base for a tiled worktop - usually found with the worktops. It looks like chipboard but it's green, as it's moisture resistant. Smiley, you clearly didn't use Carcassonne airport during the (many) years it was under renovation, or before.
