I have the ip addresses of the router, camera and laptop. The default port for the camera is 88. The camera works when cabled to the router and is accessible by phone app using the router. It is also accessible when a LAN cable is used to the laptop. The camera does not work when the cable to it is ...

Thanks everyone for your help. Martyn, I think Allan gave the answer I would. We are now spending longer down here, and I really felt I needed the extra security. after our last visit and before some of the family arrived, a bucket full of large stones were thrown in the liner pool. Neighbours didn'...

Hi Allan. thanks for your reply. I actually managed all that in the UK and tried to apply the same principles here, using port 88, and then trying 8085 as suggested on a Youtube guide. It didn't make any difference, so I can't say that was the problem. I have free DDNS with Foscam, but the router wi...

IP camera and Neufbox

I have set up these ip (Foscam) cameras in England quite easily, and can access on the internet. I am struggling here with the settings on my Neufbox. I can set the cameras up on the LAN, but they are just not interested in the internet/wi-fi. I have a French terminology and technical block here. Co...

Fire and interruption of service sfr

At the beginning of July 2015, there was a big fire along the coastal railway line between Collioure and Elne. All SFR services to Laroque and surrounding area were cut for several days. As part of their contract, all subscribers are entitled to a refund for the period of loss as it was in excess of...

That does sound logical for a small business/cafe where the phone and data use the same line, but a big store? We have a friend who has a small cafe and he is fed up with the failures, and he knows his line is free.

Declined credit cards

This is on the rise again. I expected it 15 years ago as cards were not universally accepted across Europe. Scenario - today my Nationwide card was declined 3 times at Argeles Gifi. I rang the cc company to be told the card would not be declined, and there had been no electronic communication, and h...

Yes Russell that is precisely the problem. That is why they have had to change contribution qualifications over the years. 40 to 30 (biggest mistake ever) and back up to 35 for the new scheme. A reply to me from the DWP was to the effect that no extra money has been introduced to the new pension sch...

Yes schemes do evolve, but with any transition, if you meet the new criteria you are usually granted the same privileges. This discrimination is made purely on when you were born, and not how much you paid into the pot. If the new qualifying period for the higher amount was greater than my contribut...

Pension changes

It is not only the ex-pats who are the subject of 'pension bashing'. Check the DWP site for the new Universal Pension coming into Force in April 2016. Anyone having reached retirement age on, or after, that date will get a basic pension of (suggested) £144pw. Anyone reaching retirement age before th...
