UK France Travel Options Are Reducing

Ryanair has pulled its October flights. Brittany ferries seems to be operating a skeleton service. Tried to book to Spain but the only thing on offer is a 2-nighter via Roscoff. Most of the other overnight ‘cruises’ seem to be off the menu from October.

Re: Quarantine

Yet another cretinous decision from this cretinous UK government. The effects of which are about to be made worse, I fear, by President Macroleon.

Since when is ‘retaliation’ part of a valid pandemic countermeasures strategy?

Long Duration Visa

With 4 months to go, we’re starting to think about how we can legally stay in the PO for more than 90 days in any 180. Residency isn’t an option, so a long duration visa seems to fit the bill. However, we’re puzzling over this requirement: ‘You must have an insurance certificate covering all medical...

If they do have an English helpline we never managed to find it. In our experience, SFR were completely and utterly useless. We switched to Orange (who do have an English helpline) and have never looked back.

We flew BHX to PGN. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. BHX was deserted, we were the only two people in security. PGN passport control happily compared passport photo with our masked visages;)

Having suffered the bone jarring, rock hard Eurostar seats to Paris, the thought of having to sit on them all the way to Avignon was too much. Far better to switch to the TGV asap!

Crossing from France to Spain and Back

Can we do it? Is it currently legal to drive over to Spain and back from the PO? I can't find any definitive info on this that’s reliably up to date?

Ryanair BHX to PGN Route Cancelled??

We can’t find any reference in Ryanair’s schedule for next summer for flights between Birmingham and Perpignan.

Are they withdrawing the route? Has anyone seen or heard anything about this?

Re: Effects of Brexit in P.-O.

OK, I’bite. I love living in Europe but I voted for Brexit. I voted that way in the full knowledge that it would make my life much more difficult. My wife did the same, also with her eyes wide open. But, for me at least, defending the UK first, and hopefully the rest of Europe next, from a newly eme...

Can you point to any reliable source of news that says anything even remotely like this? As things stand, we are headed out of the EU, pretty soon, whether we or M Macron like it or not. Assuming it doesn’t all go tits up in the HoC next week (and even that of course doesn’t stop us leaving the EU:...

Seriously delusional stuff, Gus. If you’d been in the services and seen the int you wouldn’t believe for a second that the Soviet threat wasn’t real. Or, alternatively, ask any Czech, Slovack, Hungarian, Estonian, Latvian or ....But, we’re off topic. This thread is about the Soviet Union of Europe.

Re: UK ‘Not Allowed’ to Leave the EU

Dodge the column? Yes precisely. Heaven forbid that the EU project should seek consensus amongst people comprising its Treaty partners. Heaven forbid that, should the demos want a looser relationship, the EU should acquiesce. Much better to continue to centralise power and rule by edict just as the ...

And why on earth shouldn’t other states try to “punish us” for “exercising our treaty rights”, if they don’t like the results and are in a position to punish us for producing them? Re: Moving to PO - sequencing and removal firms

Bonjour! We are intending to move to our well-equipped holiday home in the PO before the end of March (B-Day!) but our home in the UK, which we intend to rent out to supplement our incomes, is not yet ready for rental. To maximise income we would need to re-decorate throughout and replace carpets. ...

I can’t help mentioning your typo “the UK is not allowed to leave the UK”.

If only we could: we could set up a government in exile. All 48% of us, at the last count.

Re: UK ‘Not Allowed’ to Leave the EU

I think the nub of the problem is that the EU overeached itself when it rammed through the Euopean Constitution under the guise of the ‘Lisbon Treaty’ in blatant contravention of its own rules. A project to federalise a group of European nations with such intensely deep and rich histories and such s...

UK ‘Not Allowed’ to Leave the EU

So, to all those who argued with me so vehemently before Brexit that the EU was nothing more than a ‘gentleman’s club’. As I recall, one poster referred to a benign EU ‘club’ which just muddles on. So, how, do you now explain Macron’s latest decree that the UK will not be ‘allowed’ to leave the EU u...
