Re: Is nobody interested in Brexit?

I am in two minds about posting anything on here. Last week I had lunch with a British couple living in France. The conversation was dominated by two subjects. Brexit and bush fires. My French friends regularly raise the question of Brexit and want to know what is going on across the Channel. But th...

Just a thought. Prospective purchasers should be aware that Testudo Hermanni Hermanni ( the western sub-species) is a protected species and there are legal restrictions on the acquisition and keeping of these fascinating creatures. There is a wild population in the P-O. On the same subject European ...

Re: Effects of Brexit in P.-O.

I am nearly eighty years old. I travelled in Europe in the immediate post war era. I saw with my own eyes the devastation caused by two World Wars. I will never forget visiting the cemeteries where so many men, including some of my relatives, lie buried. They lived their short lives so I could live ...

Re: Crucial Issue

Even apart from the technical/legal/ethical issues around watching it at all (over here), I can’t imagine ever wanting to watch it twice: once you get your head around the selling proposition (which is quite amusing) why on earth would you want to watch soap stars with two left feet more than once?...

Re: Possible Technical Issue

Perhaps I should give a fuller explanation. I saw a new item in L'Indep on Thursday that she went missing. Thought about posting a link but did not. Then saw the updated position Friday lunch time and decided I would publish a link. There was nothing on the forum listing on the home page. But when I...

I can assure you that you are not alone in having a sweet tooth! Why no responses? Because, although there are many of thousands of anglophones living in the PO, only a very few are willing to share information publicly. In any event many of us rarely dine out. Either it's just not our thing or we'r...

It's a shame that the concept of "The Queen's Highway" does not exist here. Also the idea that every right has a corresponding responsibility.

Bit of a rarity this. An article that is not openly pro-Brexit from the BBC. Could it be that they have softened their editorial stance?

1962. Run down towns and villages in Northern France. Rats runnning around the streets in broad daylight. The scars of war everywhere. Crossed the Rhine to see what Germany loooked like. Cities such as Cologne reduced to rubble. Lesson learned? Millions of Europeans, soldiers and civilians, died in ...

Caught a glimpse of what I took to be a couple of subjects of the Dear Queen on local TV last night. I was busy doing something so didn't really catch the story. Seemed to be about the possible effects of Brexit. . Either FR 3 had picked people who did not have a reasonable command of French or they...

Must admit I applied for an Irish passport shortly after the referendum. Piece of cake. The application process was very user friendly. Only took a couple of months. I understand that they have issued well in excess of 100,000 passports to non-residents since Brexit became a reality.

“It’s being so cheerful that keeps me goingâ€￾, as Mona Lott said on ITMA.

Blimey. It's that man again. For once he merits a response.

Every day is illuminated by a thousand and one little pleasures. In the warm days of summer and autumn we are drawn to the beach. We chat to our friends, watch the visitors come and go. See the smiling faces of the children. Soak up the wonderful atmosphere created when people are enjoying themselves.

At other times we have the joy of having this wonderful corner of France almost to ourselves. One of those special places where the mountains and the sea exist cheek by jowl. Surrounded by the vestiges of a rich history stretching back over thousands of years. A mild climate with an abundance of sunshine.

Here we can swim in the sea most of the year. A mask and snorkel and a whole new world waits to be explored. Majestic mountains within easy reach. All sorts of winter sports opportunities. Or just laze about in an outdoor thermal bath.

Three major airports within easy reach for when we want to travel and see the world.

What more can we ask?

I've got nothing to sell, not looking for anything to buy, don't need recommendations of any sort. So why am I writing this?
