Re: Fosse Septique/SPANC66

Hi, you might want to consider using SPANC for the survey if you are due your regular inspection, that way you know exactly what is wrong and can be specific with the builder what you expect them to correct and have a follow up inspection by SPANC to get their full approval. The cost for an inspecti...

Re: Life Café? More like a morgue

We took the TGV from Montpellier to London a few years ago when our Easyjet flight was cancelled at the last minute and we had to get home quickly. The hotel where we were spending the night did the booking and all went smoothly apart from changing trains and stations in Paris. We are seasoned trav...

Re: Orchestra national du Capitole de Toulouse

Going to concerts is one of the things that we have missed the most. We started going to the Live au Campo festival in Perpignan and that has been cancelled as well. Thanks for forwarding the program for Toulouse, might be worth a trip this year!

Hello Rombolo, Not sure about being ‘ new blood’ but if, like Allan, I can help someone in the way we have been helped over the years, I’d be delighted. We are planning (more in hope than expectation at this stage, sadly) to get the direct Eurostar ( first time!!) down from Ashford to Avignon, pick...

Re: French or Spanish Pyrenees?

Hi Phil, we also looked at both sides and our "biased" opinion was that it gets too hot during summer on the Spanish side even in the mountains, also the country side is very dry/arid. I think you would also need to be fluent in Catalan, not many people in some villages even speak any other language...

Re: Burning garden rubbish

As Florence mentioned it is probably best to ask at the mairie. I always thought that you can only burn green waste from 1st Oct and only if it is waste from clearing the legally required distance to your house, some more info below. Good luck!

Re: Climbing the Canigou - any recommendations?

Just that it is a very rough ride and although our friends were glad that they did it as they only had one day, they would not recommend it and would not do it again. I think we just don't like the idea of spending half a day in a car getting to the meeting point then a hour plus in a rough 4x4 ride...

Re: Climbing the Canigou - any recommendations?

Hi Steve, we haven't hiked up Canigou yet but it is on our bucket list for this year. We have decided to do it over several days as we have only heard bad things about the 4x4 ride and we also think that it would be a shame to rush it. We are considering to go up via the Refuge Mariailles and come d...

Hi Peter, I think it depends on what the error was. We had issues with a redirection before as the postcode was incorrect, eventually some of the mail arrived but not all. I never quite got to the bottom of where the remaining mail ended up, hope you have better luck!

Cavallada in Ceret

This year we managed to go to the Cavallada in Ceret and we had a great time. My horse was surprisingly well behaved and even put up with the chap in the long robe throwing some water at him :-) The meal afterwards was really nice as well and a great opportunity to catch up with other horse people. ...

Hi Helen, do you mind sharing your experience of getting the driving licenses? Did it take long? Thanks! On a much more mundane level, I've just done my first 'post-brexit' admin. Heading over to France on April 9th, I've been holding off from getting international driving permits. But after what ha...

Hi Leok, we did the circular route into Andorra from the Spanish side N260 and back on the French side down the Prades valley. It is a very beautiful route but narrow and curvy.
