Re: UK France Travel Options Are Reducing

Sadly, not too surprising. We flew over with Ryanair on Tuesday. Cost £7.99 each and about 24 people on the flight. Clearly cannot be viable for them. We are just relieved to have flights back (at the moment!)

Some extra income?

Do you live near Collioure? You may be interested in our post with the title "Holiday Home Management?" in the property section. It's just one house, so obviously not a full time job. You could do everything yourself, or manage contractors for some tasks, for example, gardening, pool maintenance, et...

Holiday home management?

Could you offer or do you know anyone who offers a management service for holiday homes please? Due to a change in circumstance, our home in Collioure will be unused most of the year for the foreseeable future. A long term tenant is not the solution because we wish to still stay there occasionally. ...

Anyone got any idea of the logic/risk behind people not being allowed on the beaches in Occitane any more?

Trail des Vendanges and Trail Decouverte

Anyone else doing the Trail des Vandages or Trail Decouverte in Collioure on 29th September? I will be doing it with my son and sister and would love to meet up with any other Brit trail runners in the area. If the above is too tame for you, how about the 100 miles sud de France from Font Romeu to A...

Re: Is nobody interested in Brexit?

Brexit has polarised the nation including our MP's. Understandably, many people won't want to put their heads above the parapet and share their views, not wanting to be contentious. My opinion may be naive and I am very happy to corrected by a well explained argument, so in the interest of opening t...

Good to know, thanks Rombolo. Coincidentally as we passed over the road bridge there on the way back from taking some visitors to Carcassonne this afternoon, I looked along the waterway towards the sea and thought, that looks worth exploring!

Ah, thank you Martyn for your interest. Concerned about anything that will adversely affect us, I suppose. Anything we can do to mitigate or must do because of the changes. Now parliament has voted against the possibility of a no deal Brexit (which I assume could still change if deadlock continues) ...

French laws governing non-EU citizens owning property

Does anyone know the situation for Brits owning property in in France, or where I might be able to find out? The UK Government advises as follows: "Some EU countries have laws which govern property ownership and differentiate between their own citizens, EU citizens and non-EU citizens. You should ch...

Remember cleaning all those bugs off your windscreen in the 80's and 90's?

For me back then, it was more often a helmet visor, but the the significance is the same. I read a thought provoking article this morning, primarily about the decline of insect populations, but the message went much deeper. A fascinating but very sobering read that drove home to me how the narcissis...

"Buying a car was simple 3 years ago. I understand that there are now problems in getting a Carte Grise without French ID" Maybe there has been a change very recently. Roady behind the Intermarche at Argeles helped me out with a tyre, rare size and they got it in and on next day. I also had a towbar fitted there on another occasion. Just to confirm for other travellers, the No 6 has replaced the No 7 for the airport. You can pick it up just outside the TGV side of the station. Timetable is on the Sankeo site. Fare is still 1.6 euro.

If you get no takers for a taxi share, an easy alternative for 1.30 euro each is the number 7 bus from Perpignan airport into the city. Usually we alight at Place de Catalogne and walk along Ave General de Gaulle to the Station. It takes 10 minutes. I heard earlier this week that the bus now stops a...

And while I'm on, is there anywhere that sells decent aged steak in the area (to cook, not in a restaurant). For a country so very good at food, the beef steak quality seems a bit lacking from what I have found so far.

I must warn you against the KFC in Brno, probably the greasiest food I ever ate, but nothing else was open at 9pm on a Sunday evening. My ex business partner adored KFC and used to "treat me" on the way back south on the M6 from the Standish operation", I've welcomed it then, after a 18 hour day.
