Re: Consumer services

I don't know if there is an official government service but someone once told me to threaten to contact 60 millions de consommateurs https://www.60millions-mag.com/des-associations-de-consommateurs-pour-vous-defendre which I think is a bit like Watchdog. I eventually managed to sort out the problem ...

Re: Tax Return

I put it in line "230 Intérêts" of the form "REVENUS DE SOURCE ETRANGÈRE ET REVENUS ENCAISSÉS A L’ÉTRANGER PERÇUS PAR UN CONTRIBUABLE DOMICILIÉ EN FRANCE" and carried it across to "2 ı revenus des valeurs et capitaux mobiliers" line 2TR of the main form.

Re: Wooden windows

If you are having anything else done by way of doors or windows or shutters, it might be worth just asking them. Sorry, who would it be worth asking? I'm not having much luck finding anyone who wants to come and give me a quote for the windows, apart from Tryba and he was quite unhelpful and rather...

Wooden windows

Hi, Can anybody recommend someone to supply and fit wooden double glazing? I need to replace windows and doors in our house which is attached to a listed chapel and in a conservation area, so it has to be wood. I have already talked to Tryba and am trying to get Corcoy out to give us a quote but it ...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

Termite treatment is now finished. It took them just over a day to inject - not bad money for €2450 TTC. There were no termites actually in the property but they did find them in a tree stump outside and in some wooden pallets that John had left outside the garage thinking he would use them. They've...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

Sorry to read this. I presume Pami are spraying. In due course, and if you don't mind, I should be very pleased to know how much it all costs. Alan Injecting. The cost is €2450. Better than the initial estimate of €3000 - 3500 but he may have said that to make us feel better when it came in at 2 an...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

I spoke too soon, the expert refused to come back and do the new report given that he would be liable if there were any repercussions. The buyers have decided that they will have to accept having the house treated if we are to avoid delaying the sale because of the 10 day cooling off period which th...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

Great result! Hope there are no more hitches and it's good you have a very pragmatic buyer (and notaire!). Alan Yes indeed! The buyer has now confirmed that he and his wife are "completely happy" with us changing the affected frames. I might still ask them to sign something just confirming that the...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

Thanks for the reply. I would be very interested to know in due course what you decide to do. Alan Hi again, I've now heard from the buyer who is quite relaxed about it and would rather not have it treated as he doesn't want toxic chemicals in his house! The notaire says that given we only have jus...

Re: Recommendation for termite treatment

Thanks Alan, my other half was all for ripping out and replacing the frames and treating the wood to stop them eating the new ones, but as the report is going to the notaire and the buyers, I thought it best to have it looked at by an expert. We had one company (Pami) round yesterday and are waiting...

Recommendation for termite treatment

We have just had an updated termite inspection for the reports that have to be done when you sell a house. The original report 10 months ago found nothing, but this time the expert found evidence of termites in 2 door frames. We are due to complete on 21st Feb and need to get this sorted out before ...

Re: 4G Internet

I’m very much in the same boat. I was a reasonably happy customer with free for a few years: they had a fancy box with much stuff I didn’t want, but the overall offer was competitive enough. They have just launched two new boxes which are variously insanely expensive for stuff that I don’t want or ...

Re: 4G Internet

Thanks for the information. I've been thinking of moving to 4G as the broadband speed here is very slow, and I object to Bouygestel continually putting up the price of the broadband package with stuff I don't need and haven't asked for.

Re: home for a donkey?

I've just read a pm from Jane Lawes about the donkey. I could hardly read it as it is in faint text on a black background. Jane, if you see this, it was me who suggested on this thread that you contact La Ferme du Bonheur, but it's nothing actually to do with me, it was just an idea for adopting th...

Customs probably opened them to make sure that they won't a bomb  and I'm sure that home made ones are much tastier. I made a couple of jars a few weeks back using vinègre de cidre and pickling spice from the UK, but I have made up my own spices in the past. We'll see what they taste like at Ch...
