Urgent Serious Removal Company

We need a removal company to move us 2 roads away. We could do it ourselves with the help of friends but we have a large, delicate display cabinet which will need dismantling and putting back together. It will take somebody with patience and experience. The village is Llupia nr Thuir and we moving n...

Do they have instructors at St Cyp and Perpignan? We have a pool, although we've now bought a house to downsize without a pool (thank goodness)! Our 3 year old grandson would never go into the pool, he didn't like the sea and last year we resorted to the lake at Villeneuve de la Raho where he would ...

We are down sizing and have sold our property. We are looking for a 3 bedroom house with garage (garden not too big), no pool, plein pied. Preferably not via agencies!

We went to Madrid from Figueras on the AVE, it takes 50 mins to Barcelona and then carries on the rest of the journey. Parking is secured at the station and very cheap. Highly recommend, must better than the TGV and once the tgv is operative it will be much more expensive as you are crossing a border.

French families who accommodate foreign students

I have friends in Australia with twin daughters of 16 who are looking to spend 3 weeks before Christmas with French families. They don't mind being split up. They will be spending Christmas in the UK and returning for a French course in Paris on 3rd Jan organised by the school. If anybody could help...

We had another excellent meal there last Friday and bought snails to bring home which were delicious. In Thuir at one of the traiteurs we pay around 17 euros for half the amount, we paid 11 euros at La Masia and they were better! Can't wait to go back and try something else. I did have melon and ham...

Last year we stopped off and had a beer to use their services!!!!It was so old fashioned like the bars in Spain 40 years ago!!!!!!!!!! Recently we have noticed a big improvement in appearance as well as a pizzeria at the end of the restaurant. The car park is usually busy and we decided to stop and ...

There is a very good English speaking doctor in Thuir (Dr Julien Fabre). I realise he isn't in the Le Boulou vicinity but is only a 20 mins drive. However, he would only be suitable for surgury visits as I'm sure he wouldn't be able to accomodate home visits in or around Le Boulou.
Good Luck!

Yes it is Semana Santa, which is more important in Spain than Christmas but it won't affect La Jonquera or Le Perthus.

TGV/AVE

Do check that it is only platforms you need to change and not stations. The normal trains from Perpignan go the old station and the AVE leaves and arrives from the new Figueras Vilafant station (on the road to Olot). They are a long way from each other, too far to walk and taxis are expensive in Fig...

Re: Hotels in Barcelona.

Hi Carol, I know Barcelona quite well as my husband is from there. If you choose to drive to Bcn airport and park you are choosing a very expensive option and a scary drive through Barcelona. My advice is to park in Figueras railway station and take the train. If you keep your train tickets to produ...

I think it's ' Indian Fast Food'. 18 Ave du Général de Gaulle. 04 68 34 89 38 or 06 49 62 62 63. Closed Sunday. It's very good indeed and you can tell them how hot or mild you like your curry. They did say that their English clients do like their curries hot!
