Hi Tia, I'm in St Genis des Fontaines. Spoke to a local agricultural worker yesterday (the one who ran it dry!) and he says he'll come with their mechanic, but no details as to when. I'll contact him again on Monday and depending on the result, I would be very grateful indeed for your husband's help...

Thank you so much for the offer but I'm not sure I would be capable of doing it: I'm really not mechanically-minded at all. I found something on Youtube, showing how to do it but on a much more recent model. They said it took 2 people, one to crank the engine and the other to work their way down the...

Anyone good with tractors or know someone who is?

Hi. I bought an ancient Massey Ferguson to cut the grass in my horses' field. Paid a guy to cut the grass, who mistreated it somewhat and ran it dry of diesel. Now it won't start, despite the efforts of a friend who knows what he's doing. He says it needs bleeding (!?) Does anyone have any tractor me...

I'm gagging to see the most vulgar thing you've ever seen: it must be a corker.
I thought the same thing! but maybe avoid the word 'gagging', just in case :D

Sounds great! I used to do a bit of riding with my late wife, but haven't done any for over 20 years, and it would be good to take it up again on one of my visits to the area Do you know anything about the Centre Equestre at Maureillas? Where are you situated when you come down? If you want a few l...

I can believe what you say about the Leclerc stuff. I read the list of ingredients, protein/fat ratio in my dog's food far more than I do for my own food and generally buy online. I was tempted by the low price but following the particularly stinky farts which ensued (from the dog, obviously!) I wil...

So, you managed 2 days, rather than a week, Martyn? And there was I, feeling all 'safe' The Winalot was obviously for my dog and was merely an example of the low prices. Without wanting to sound like the Generation Game (for those old enough to remember it!) I also got a baking tray, an alarm clock,...

Hi. The info was on the Facebook group page; I saw it a couple of days ago. North of the airport, in Polygone Nord, opposite the big Leclerc is Dealz, which is Poundland. I went yesterday. There is less food than in Poundland in England (as I remember it, ) but what there is available is mainly at 1...

This is just to inform Martyn that the 1st Sisterjet flight leaves on 1st June! My sister is actually going to drive from North Wales to Southend to use that flight, when she could have done Liverpool - Gerona

The Vulco garage in Elne is excellent. I went there first for tyres but now they do everything for my car. Very reasonably priced.

Read the last sentence again, please.

When people on this forum were asked where they would like flights to, nobody mentioned Southend.

Answers like that are why I do not post more often.

It's very nice of them to put on a new flight, but it would be nicer if it went to and from somewhere people actually want to go! My sister used to live in Southend and could have walked to the airport; now she lives in North Wales, so Liverpool or Manchester would be more interesting for us these d...

Re: French ads on Filmon

[quote="Allan It isn't a new policy, they are a commercial organisation that makes money from subscriptions and adverts[/quote] Duh, obviously. I raised the question because there is a very sharp increase in the number of ads shown, as compared to a short while ago. When I said 'get people to subscr...

French ads on Filmon

I sometimes watch programmes on Filmon and apart from the adverts that came up when you changed channel, have been very happy with it. Last Friday I wanted to watch Eurotrash and every 5 minutes a lengthy French ad came on, completely ruining the programme. Tried again for Mock the Week tonight and ...

My Presario died a while back. Does anyone want the screen and or keyboard? If not, they're going to the dump.

Beautiful Tibetan Mastiff, female 15 months, needs new home

Janha is very sweet and learns quickly but until now she has not had much education.
She needs a garden, as a big dog and quite a lot of human presence, as her old owner didn't work. She will however get used to being alone, if that is what you need.

In the summer I use Advantix and sometimes Scalibor as well, as my dog often goes in the river which can reduce the efficiency of pipettes. As for the vaccination, it's not 100% sure but the manufacturers claim 93% and the risk of contamination being reduced dramatically (up to 4 times less chance o...

What with the heat and my colleague not giving me much information, I have to confess that I backed out of the trip! Also, having looked at photos of the 'cheminée', I had visions of my dog bounding up there and showering the kids' heads with rockfall - not a good idea! I'm thinking of doing it (wit...

Possible to go to top of Canigou with a dog?

At the end of the week, I'm supposed to be accompanying a group of twenty 16 yr olds on a 2 day trip up the Canigou, with my dog. My colleague, who is organising the trip, has just informed me that we're not going the classic 'easy' way from Cortalets but the other way, which finishes with a steep r...

Thank you Ruby for the recommendation; I had never found these kennels when I searched on the web before.
Karine is lovely. I left my dog there last week for a 24hr trial and it went very well, so he is now booked in for a week in July and I'm off to Cornwall!

I have 2 cats; he sometimes tries to play with them but would never hurt them. He also plays with all dogs we meet out on walks and goes to dog club regularly.
He would bark at night if you left him outside and he heard noises. Tibetan Mastiffs are guard dogs by nature and only bark for a reason.

looking for someone to look after large dog one week in July

I have a very nice Tibetan Mastiff. When I have to work long hours, he goes to White Thistle. The kennels are great but he hates it. I left him there for 4 days in February and he hurt himself trying to get out of his enclosure. I would like to go to England for 5-7 days from 11 July and would prefe...
