We're not convinced about the "Ambilight" incorporated in the latest versions of big screen Philips... Don't know whether it can be turned off? Agree totally with you about the Ambilight thingy.,Rog. It's a complete gimmick. But aren't most things on gadgets gimmicks, that the salesman persuades you...

We renewed ours via Paris about 4 years ago. We flew into Stansted last week from Tenerife. At passport control there is generally NO conversation and I always manage to stop myself making flippant remarks. This time the bloke actually asked me a question: "Could you tell me which country you were i...

In our defence, we never drink unless we are eating.

We did it once to pick up some friends.

I would go to the notaire that you used when you originally bought the property. He will still have your file. Take the buyer with you if he is willing and take it from there. Presume the notaire will draw up the compromis for you and might even arrange the diagnostic tests. Must say we were glad th...

Phew, that's a relief.
Our Taxe d'Habit was almost 900euros so it would come as a really nasty surprice this time next year.
Will mention it to the notaire when we meet today.
Thought it was just customary to pay the whole whack and can see the sense of it if moving within France.

Dongles

I have a 3 dongle here in England which is really useful. Cost 19.99 and came with enough credit to last for a month. After that you have to top up anyway. They seem to be very very expensive in France - some 69 euros and then you need to buy the credit. On the 3 website it says that I can use my En...
