Gorgeous Catalan Craft Beers

Post by paddym »

Many thanks for the information found here on the Cap d’Ona brewery, Argelès: we very much enjoyed their brews during our recent visit to Torreilles, especially the Banyul-fortified special.

We took a trip to the Serrabona Priory, well worth the visit, and on the way back at the bottom of the hairpin bends was a little shop selling local produce, and we found another craft beer, from the Brasserie Artisanale l'Alzina at Bouleterniere - they have a website at www.biere-alzina.com

They do some nice flavours: we tried Thyme and liked it very much, also Almond.

I've been selling and serving the Alzina beers at the winery for a few years now and while I quite like them and think them better than Cap d'Ona, I have to say that no-one has ever come back for more. Mind you, perhaps they have gone to buy them direct from the brasserie.
