Hi,
not sure whether this is in the right part of the forum but I am looking for recommendations on historical books about the PO, pretty much interested in any aspect as long as it is non-fictional rather than fictional. Any good reads that somebody can recommend?

I have also recently done some random reading on general French history and came across Helen Castor's book on Joan of Arc. I thought it was a very good read 2 things stood out for me, firstly Joan doesn't appear until well into the book, in fact at some point, I had forgotten that I was reading a book about her as she appeared so late. However, this really made me get a much better impression on what extraordinary impact she must have had. The 2nd one was the importance and role of other women such as Yolande, Duchess of Anjou during this period which I had not realised before. Has anybody read any of her other books and can recommend them?

There are a lot of short stories written throughout the website, in particular by the late Basil Howitt of which the following is just one.

I wanted to share some interesting info which I found out, thought might be useful for all

There is a series of guides tours: Les Vallées Catalanes du Tech et du Ter in either French or Catalan. They go roughly from le Boulou, St Marsal/le Perthus all the way to Camprodon. They are by village/town but also with a focus on an industry or one particular piece of art/architecture. I have not been able to find a website, but it is easy to find their brochure in any tourist information.

We have done a couple and have been really impressed by how much we learned and the knowledge of the guides across history, art and economic developments in the area. They only run from April to end September but I can highly recommend them.
