LES BAINS DE SAINT THOMAS
Thinking of visiting the spa pools there. I live in Ceret. I do notice on their website that it say no loose bathing wear. Do they mean swimming shorts?
I do not own a pair of speedos, and feel rather sorry for any poor soul who may have to view me in a pair.
Do they have a shop onsite, where you can buy suitable swimwear?
Anyone have any experience of the place?
Thanks in advance
Andy

les bains de st thomas
We went a couple of years ago and my husband took his baggy shorts (he hasn't the body for speedos!) but they were not acceptable so the staff very kindly lent him a natty pair of "tighter" trunks! Not very sexy but at least he could join in the fun!

Here's a bit out of a past PO Life where we gave some suggestions on what to do on rainy days which might be useful
Why not get wet in the rain at
one of the naturally Hot Baths?
At St Thomas les Bains, up the N116,
direction Andorra, left on the CD28 just after
Fontpedrouse, are three open air baths of hot
mineral waters cooled to 37 degrees. Together
with the hammam, the jacuzzi and a series of
massage treatments they make it the perfect
place to relax in calm serenity, surrounded by
high mountains and stunning scenery. Open
7/7 Check times and book treatments on:
0468970313
To find the Baths of Llo turn left at
Saillagousse on the N116 between Mont
Louis and Bourg Madame Hot, sulphurous,
well organised, they are open most of the year.
They offer both open air and indoor swimming
in water at 37 degrees, they too have a jacuzzi,
hammam, bar and sauna and are surrounded
by beautiful scenery and much snow in winter.
04 68047455.
Or try the Roman Baths of Dorres. Rather
more rustic than Llo or St Thomas,
nevertheless, lying in the 42 degree water and
enjoying the magnificent view of Carlit’s peak,
and the chain of mountains separating France
from Spain, is rather special. 04 6804 6687
for opening hours. (Between Bourg Madame
and Envieg take the D618 then the D10 to
Dorres.)

A quick update. Made it there by lunchtime having had to pop to the sports shop behind the Renault garage near Acian. To buy my new figure hugging speedo type swimwear.
Found the baths very easily and we all really enjoyed the afternoon. 5.50 euros to just use the spar and 12 euros to able to use the spar and the steam room areas. That was our choice. I loved the steam room with the cold water pool in the centre.
Fantastic scenery all round. I have lived in Ceret for 4 months and I think I will never tire of the views that we all have in this part of the world.
The spar offered equally beautiful surroundings.
Chose to drive through the mountains on the way back. I have to say that I think it wil take me a while to get used to those mountain roads.
Anyway I highly recommend the place to anyone who wants spend a very relaxing day.
