Insurance for british cars

I read recently on your site about the need to quickly re-register cars brought in from outside France to have the vehicule insured. I also, a couple of months back, read an article in the 'French-News' which indicated a change in the law allowing cars brought from the U.K. and other european countries to be checked by C.T. and insured on their own license plate. I could never understand why this was not possible before and if it is true it should save a lot of people a lot of futile trips to the D.R.I.R.E. This artice can be accessed on line and I have a copy of it in France, I do wonder what a lot of people do as there are many cars driving on U.K. plates displaying no french insurance or U.K. tax disc...I hope this information is of use to someone, I wish it was available when we relocated. Y
