Vehicle registration costs

I’m picking up a new car on Monday and the dealer has casually told me that I have to pay another 973€ as the cost of registering the car has gone up.
They claim they only found this out when they registered the car.
I accept that if the cost of registering the car has increased since I ordered it that the increase is a cost to me but I’m a bit surprised that they claim to not know about it in advance..
Presumably there is a website somewhere that gives this information, does anybody know what it is please.
