We're meeting a friend one Saturday in Carcassonne for lunch. Can anyone recommend a good one, where we will get good food, good choice, and value for money? We don't want to go far from the cité/centre as time is limited

Strongly recommend La Merquiere in La Cite. Better to book but often surprisingly few customers. Wonderful food in a quiet courtyard that is an oasis of calm amid the mayhem that can be La Cite in summer!!! Check it on Tripadvisor.
If you want somewhere cheaper and a bit quirky Table De Norbert is also good on the outskirts of the main town and easy access from the Airport.
