Gites de France
We signed up with Gites de France last year. The local rep explained that the joining fee is quite high, around 300€ but this covers quite a lot of admin and inspections and that subsequent year are much lower, priced at 10% of the high-season weekly rate.
We received the invoice for the second year last week and it was nearly as much as the first year because it charges 20% of the summer rental, plus a fixed fee of 89€ plus some other admin fee of 18€. Which brought it to over 250€.
Part of our reason for signing up with Gites de France was for the status but considering we have not had a single inquiry, never mind a booking, and that the rep effectively lied about downstream charges, we've pulled out.
So this is a warning to others who may be considering registering their property with Gites de France.
