The French version of the track and trace app was released on Tuesday for Android and Apple phones. I installed it and it seems to work and is quite straightforward.
There have been some concerns about privacy but it does seem to be pretty secure and doesn't actually record your position, only the fact that you have been within 1 metre of someone with the virus for more than 15 minutes. My main concern is that it is perhaps not sensitive enough. Surely you can catch the virus in less than 15 minutes and at a greater than 1 m distance?
Anyway, it is better than nothing so as many people as possible should install it, especially if they intend to travel on public transport.
