Tax d'habitation
The demand for the tax d'habitation will be arriving soon. I understand from an article in The Connexion that if you are on a low income you may get a reduction and if you are over 60 and on a low income you may pay nothing at all. What if the demand is in the husbands name (well under 60) but the wife is over 60. Is this taken into consideration?

Think you might have got it wrong, lonesome paddy.lonesome paddy wrote:I dont know what the situation is if one partner is under 60 but if both are over 60 you do not pay this tax, also if you are on a low enough income while you may not have to pay anything you will certainly receive a reduction which can be quite substantial.
I'm pretty sure you have to be over 60 AND on a low income to get any reduction.
I know we paid the full whack when we lived in Torreilles.

So from what I read it appears that if you are over 60 you only get the full rebate if your family income, now including governement pensions that are taxed in the UK at source, are below a certain threshold.
Is that correct?
Is that correct?
