virement - IBAN rib

Post by polremy »

Help please.
Never quite got the hang of French RIBs and things.
Now we have a bill to pay for the diganostic tests needed before selling the house.
Unfortunately I didn't bring my Bonk Pop chequebook with me to England.
I explained this to the little man by email, asking if I could pay by credit card but this isn't possible apparently.
He says: vous pouvez faire un virement .
He also sent us an IBAN rib.
Help - what the heck do I do?
I do have our French bank account number which is something I suppose.

As you bank online you should be able to go into your account and make a virement using his IBAN, Pol.

If it becomes too complicated and you want me to pay it for you and then you reimburse me when you come out, send me a pm.

We don't actually bank online, Thumbers.
I have emailed them before and got a reply (not a very helpful one mind you - I was asking for info to give to the taxman and they couldn't give it to me)
Would I be able to email them and somehow get them to make the payment do you think?

Ring them, Pol. It will be far easier to speak to a real person I should think.

Assuming you have a UK bank account they should be able to arrange a transfer using the information on his IBAN.

Russell.

You're right of course, Russell.
I am definitely braindead.
I can do it for £20 charge with Nationwide - have done it before to my son in U.S.
Thanks - that's what I'll do.
And thanks again, Thumbers for your very kind and trusting offer!

Save yourself the £20, plus exchange rate spread and phone/fax your French Bank.
