Talking about pruning !
Can anyone advise me on pruning a citrus tree ( orange I think ) and a fig tree.
I rescued the citrus tree from certain death and it it has now bushed up nicely.Approx 7 foot tall but still a young narrow tree.
The fig is a lot older but has long spindly branches which have little in the way of leaves apart from right at the end where the fruit grows.
I really want to keep the fig as it gives huge green figs the size of small pears that are superb to eat but feel it could be stronger if maintained better.
Is it necessary to feed a fig tree with any fertiliser ?
When, how etc.
Thanks

For the fig tree this is very good - used it myself in Le Soler when we "regrew" a figtree from a stump found in the garden!

Figs need a lot of water to do well - even if the roots have to go deep to find it! Horse manure well watered in has been recommended...
Found this one for citrus. We have a small lemon tree which was in a big pot - now planted out in the garden - but not sure if the (winter) climate up here will be ok for it. It survived last winter OK and we had fruit, but in a hard winter??
