Seen just now in the garden.
A beautiful pair of hawfinches (French = Grosbec casse-noyaux)
enjoying the sunflower seeds we put out.

Quite rare to see a pair like that - especially in a suburban (village) garden with 3 cats and a dog lurking!!
More photos for ornothologists out there

OOPS--Sorry,I mentioned your beautiful bird pair in the foodie section!
I imagine you will be seeing loads of birds now with Spring finally arriving. I left Manhattan and now live in slightly "upstate" New York, on the Hudson River where there is still ice on the Hudson...but when Spring finally arrives, we, too, will have birds galore. Springtime is my favorite season.
