Kate has had lots of request for P-O Life (AD) to become all modern and have a Facebook Page. This day has arrived and you can now find P O Life under the heading "GROUPS" on your Home Page. Apply to become a member and with Admin approval you will soon be able to contribute to its day to day running. We hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

Sue
If Kate can put all of her ideas, wants, etc. on the facebook and those of us who do not or want not facebook, what happens to us. In my case, if I'm being marginalized with facebook, I will leave and find a different forum. One which doesn't limit or information from not having facebook.

Maybe I'm a small part of the members on this forum who don't like facebook. If so, I'll pickup my coat and sign-on elsewhere.

Blackduff please do not think you are being left out. A lot of people asked for P O Life to go on Facebook but we appreciate that there are also a lot of people who do not and never will use Facebook. The P O Life (AD) Forum will continue to run as it does now. There is simply a FB Group too for people who want to interact on that.

Surely in the heel of the hunt one will win out over the other. Also who is going to be bothered to write the same or even different on both sites. I do not subscribe to F.B.

Hi BD and anyone else with questions. Nothing will change - this is just an extra for those who regularly use FB (of which I am not one!). Sue has very kindly agreed to create and run the page as I have all my time taken up with site, mag, newsletter… She has put a lot of effort, blood sweat and tears into its creation, and done a great job.

It is simply a group for Francophiles with a specific interest in the PO to get together, similar to the forum but trying to move with the times. There are many of these groups around in all regions of France.

As for one winning out over the other – there is no competition; it doesn’t matter which one ‘wins’. We are simply extending the possibilities for communication!
Personally, I’ll be sticking with the forum, but will post on the FB page any photos or info from the main site that I think might be interesting.

So...no change for forum users. And what a beautiful day once again. Arent we lucky?

Like BD, I don't like the idea of parallel sites so why not include latest FB posts on the AD website, that way you have an integrated interface.

I thought Channel 66 already filled this gap in the market. It certainly has a few familiar names on it.

Because I'm not clever enough! Honestly, I wouldn't have the first clue how to do that, despite the fact that it is an excellent idea.

We have more and more younger members who have grown up with FB but are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with forums and their annonymity. With respect for everyone's views, I don't really understand why this should change anything on the forum.

As for filling 'gaps in markets' - this is not a business proposition, or a money making venture - just a simple FB chat group where everyone knows who they're actually communicating with eh Merisin.

Maybe it won't work, and people already have all they need between forum and other FB groups, but that will be fine too. At least I will have responded to requests, and can't be accused of ignoring people.

Kate. Do you have access to the website code, or someone that does it for you?

I can email you the necessary code to paste in

Certainly happy to give it a go Allan. Bear in mind though that I am very teckie challenged, in that I know what I know and no more (if you see what I mean). I run the site by the skin of my teeth sometimes, and weather most storms through luck rather than good managment!!!!

Sounds like a great idea - but have a feeling it will involve more than just pasting in a code once it gets between my grubby, inept paws!

Let's give it a go eh.... :P :P

Which codes do you need by the way? I have loads and none of them really mean much to me!!

I can see your point of view Monsans - but the way I see it, people who prefer forums will continue to just post on the forum, FB fans will just post on FB....and nothing will change. Just thank your lucky stars I havent started to twitter yet!!! (tho my husband says I do it all the time but I think he means witter!)

Where popularity is concerned, if everybody stops using the forum and goes over to FB, we will delete the forum.... and vice versa if FB has no interest, but as long as there are still posters on the forum, nothing will change. It has been going for 9 years now and many of the original posters are still around, one of them being BD and another Opas.

If we can bring the two together as Allan has suggested, all the better

Well, I too have an aversion to Facebook and have limited my "friends" to just family members. Have picked up some useful snippets of news that way which might have taken ages to reach me if I'd waited for a phone call or personal email.

Phillibert you should have News Feed, Pages, Groups, Games etc down the left hand side of you Home Page. In Groups you should see a little blue person wearing sunglasses with P O Life next to it just click on. Alternatively use the search box at the top of your Home Page. If you are still having difficulty then PM me your email address and I will add you that way.

Try this
https://www.facebook.com/groups/7811854 ... p_activity

It's still in experimental stage, so there might be the odd hiccough to come yet before we put the FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK link on the home page, but Sue's done a great job. I'm not much of a Facebooker personally - have never really worked it out - so she's had to do it all herself. Have to say, I take my chapeau off to her - it's not as easy as it seems. I thought that you just clicked on Create a group and it was done, but it's a much more complicated process than that!!

If the link doesnt work, Sue might have another way.

It doesn't show up on people's FB group list unless they have joined it.

It also doesn't show up if I type "P O Life" in the FB search box.

Not sure why. Perhaps because it is a closed group.

When I search P O Life it comes up OK. It is a closed group but that shouldnt stop people looking at it. They just cant post unless they are a member.
