I couldn't be bothered to read any, but if you google "transport mobylette" you get lots of hits, some of which seem vaguely promising (if it wouldn't be more convenient just to start again).

I used a man with a van for bringing stuff over a few months ago. He makes regular trips down to Spain. I got his details from Shipley.com, one of the van sites where you say what you want transporting and people put in bids. It's good - but beware...a hefty com goes to the site for the intro!!!

Here's the thread

It was meant kindly, and was certainly helpful. I can't know, since you didn't say, how much your moped might be worth, or how difficult it might be to replace it down here. Moving a lumpy bit of secondhand metal, point to point, over about 1k kilometers would not normally be cheap. If you can find a man with a van, with a moped-sized space in their van, all my best luck. Let us know how it turned out.

Thanks. I'm surprised (and pleased for you) at how cheap it was, but it just shows (again) how little I know. I occasionally nark when querists don't give us feedback, so I'm grateful to acknowledge - even belatedly - that you have. And I've got any amount of bulky stuff myself at the wrong end of France.
