Does anyone know where we can rent/borrow/buy a lightweight folding wheelchair for adult?

Try your local pharmacy. Some of them have their own: if they don’t they can get them, or tell you where to get them.

Yes, any pharmacy. They can order one to fit your requirements. If the user has a carte vitale he can get a prescription for the hire from the doctor and the charges will be covered.

Thanks. Our médecin traitant gave a prescription, and our pharmacie supplied. As you say, with Carte Vitale, costs are covered. It will make such a difference to us, though OH already has Carte Handicapé for stationnement

Glad you are sorted. I don't know where you are located but we've found that Reha Team in Perpignan are very good for all sorts of accessories for the handicapped. You will be entitled to a new wheelchair every three years if the condition is permanent.
