Pension

Post by Sue »

My UK state pension was due yesterday and is always in my account here on the due date if not the day or a couple of days before but this month it has not arrived. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the Barclays/RBS fiasco. Is there anyone else who hasnt received theirs.

I rang the International Pension Service and they said mine was paid on 28th, when it was due, but it is not showing in my CA account yet. I don't expect anything will happen over the weekend.

I use the English Speaking CA at Rodez and I have a very good personal banker there - I will e-mail her on Monday and find out what is going on.
No problem with my Civil Service pension which is paid into CA through a different bank.

It looks as if the problem must be with the CA system. I have sent an e-mail and also tried to ring but got a recorded message that all their staff were engaged - I expect they are getting a lot of calls! I will let you know when they call me back.

I have just found £1657 in my RBS account from some mysterious source - payment of a claim against the Frances Wilderness Lake Lodge in the Yukon.
No, I've never heard of it either, but it's real money and beats vague promises from Juan Whatsisname in the Bank of Madrid who emails me wanting help in shifting €8.2 from a secret account.

I expect the real claimant will be knocking at the RBS door pretty soon......

....stop shoving in the queue, now.

I have already started having my Teacher's Pension paid into my UK account with Santander - I would transfer another of my pensions but they won't give me more than 0.1% interest on my savings account as a non-resident.

My personal banker just rang me back - she said there are no special problems with their system but she will look into it for me. It was transferred though Citibank Europe last month, so I wonder if the problem lies with them

Mine is always transferred from Citibank Europe Plc. I assume they transfer to everyone who has their state pension transferred to a foreign bank account. Seems odd the 2 other people who have posted have received theirs into different banks but you and I both with the CA have not. It will be interesting to hear what they come up with.

I got through and was told that some pensions had been paid early because of the Jubilee -I pointed out that I would not have been worried if it had been paid early! She suggested I wait a couple of days.

Some help that is by the pension dept. Anyway the Jubilee had been and long gone by the time our payments were due. Stupid people. I am leaving it until tomorrow and if nothing with ring too. Just checked my CA account again online and they have managed to take out a payment for the dogs haircut which I paid for by card on Saturday and thats it!!

Mine comes through Citibank as well so I don't think the problem is there.

NO charges on any of my pensions. Sod's law usually operates on the exchange rate, in that it drops just as my pensions are due, but not this time.
