Artificial Grass

Has anyone any experience of laying artificial grass....what do you need to do to prepare the surface...does it get too hot to walk on in the summer...any other useful tips please

I put sharp sand down then a weed barrier, but it gets soft when it rains!! it never gets to hot and looks great 2 years and no fading i didnt brush sand in after i had put the grass down but do intend to, it has never moved even in a full tram!!
