Barking dogs
Hi all
We have a neighbour who ties his dog to a tree and then goes out for the whole day - The dog is obviously bored and barks all day - when I say he barks all day that is barking continuously every minute of every hour, all day
To me this is abuse of an animal and causing a nuisance to neighbours
Before I go to confront the owners - does anyone have any experience of handling situations like this in France ? is there anything the Marie can do for example? and is there animal protection legislation that might cover this?
Hopefully the owner will be accommodating but I have a bad feeling that they won't be
Tx

Hi Maximus,We've had no luck we talked to them about it,and then started sending recorded delivery letters so there was a paper trail to take to the maire.unfortunately after the first one they simply refused the post lady, and wouldn't accept the sign for letters. It has got better ie the dog is left outside to bark all night.Tha'ts when it makes you irrational.Maybe some of our french neighbours have also talked to him.Peter

I think it constitutes a public nuisance issue.(Nuisances sonores)

Dont know how your french is but here are a couple of links which might help.
http://forum-juridique.net-iris.fr/immo ... boyer.html
http://droit-finances.commentcamarche.n ... des-chiens
Here also is a model letter warning of action to be taken if this continues.
Be careful though. This may be a dog who is mainly loved and in a happy home (tho being tied up all day indicates the contraire I agree but we dont know their situation) so do try and avoid the dog being taken away - it's not his fault, it's the owners!!
