Anyone Up For a Good Old-fashioned Boycott?

Post by GrahamC »

No more Auchan, Decathlon or LeroyMerlin for me. Painful but necessary.

I can’t morally justify giving my custom to companies that not only continue to trade with Russia but seek to profit from the withdrawal of Western competitors.

Hello.

Russia is unfortunately embedded in almost everything. Are you going to cut off your electricity and gas supply, sell your car, cash out your pension funds and limit your shopping basket to non-global brands? Not so simple.

Pretty tough to do with how intertwined everything is, as you mentioned. I try to spend consciously but even avoiding one major company (much less an entire country) is difficult with all the controlling interests and other companies under their umbrella (for ex. Nestle). Every little bit helps I guess but it takes work to track it. I remember a couple years ago there was some ap that told you who the parent company of any product was - see if I can track it down.
