Crit Air Stickers - A new Form of Punishment

Apparently the French government has introduced a new system requiring your car to display a Crit Air sticker on the windscreen in certain cities.

Naturally there are heavy fines for unsuspecting motorists.

Does anyone know anything about this? How do we go about getting one?

Hello Graham C,

We had a Crit Air Certificate in 2019. It is all done online and was quite easy. The website is

www.certificat-air.gouv.fr and it was in English as well as French.

The cost in 2019 was 4.21 euro

You need to attach a copy of your registration document online. If you have a UK Registration Document you need to reduce the size of the document by photocopying only the Vehicle details. They send an electronic copy of the sticker to use until the original comes in the post. Hope this helps but if you get stuck get back in touch.
Regards

Thank you for this. Do we need a Crit Air for Perpignan?

Not sure if you need one for Perpignan, you should be able to see a list on the Crit Air website. We travelled through The Netherlands and Belgium where you could use the same Crit Air certificate in those countries.

I drove through Rouen on the way to the PO recently, and discovered that I needed one of these stickers, but apparently there is a period of grace until next March if you get caught without one. In any case once you have paid your 4€ or so and sent for it, as long as you can produce proof that you've ordered one that is apparently sufficient.
