Visiting our second home

I don’t wish to be provocative, but I have been thinking this morning about the reason why I no longer visit our second home in Port Vendres as frequently as I used to and (here goes), it’s not Brexit!
My wife is out there now but I have not been since May and I shall not be out again until October although one of my daughters and her children, some friends and my wife will all be visiting in the interim. I do miss all the action going on over the summer months including festivals and fireworks but what keeps me away; in a word, "mosquitos" and their increased prevalence in recent years.
There has been an interesting article here on the problem:

Another recently appeared in the Telegraph:

It's not as if we are in the countryside. Our is a town house with just a few street trees at the front and no standing water. I would never have supposed that an insect would have kept me away when Macron and others would not otherwise have deterred me.
