Bird of Paradise plants
These are one of my favourite plants. Has anyone managed to grow them down here and do they have any gardening tips if they have? On a French site it says they die if the temperature goes below 0oC.

We had a huge Strelitzia plant (or group of plants) in the garden of our rented place in Antibes (very mild winters) which had obviously been there for many years.
On the rare occasions we had frost during those 9 years, it died back above soil, then regrew as soon as the weather got warmer than about 12°C.
Couple of sites which give details. There are many more on Google, of course.
Main thing seems to be frost protection - at least by mulching the roots.

a whole diary on it
