L’Ânesse dans le Cerisier The donkey in the cherry tree is a unique concept of dairy donkey breeding, according to the principles of eco-pasturage on Mediterranean wastelands.
Breeder, Chloé, then uses the milk to produce natural, organic donkey milk soap.
Working with animals was Chloé’s calling from an early age. She decided to go into breeding in a bid to help preserve and enrich the region’s landscape with sustainable grazing. Sustainable breeding also ensures the welfare of both mother and foal!
A donkey produces a small amount (0.5 to 1L/day) of a precious milk that protects and regenerates the skin.
The process, known as saponification, is conducted at a low temperature, requiring less energy and avoiding the deterioration of raw materials. This means Chloé keeps all the good stuff for her soaps!
There are a range of 4 different products with minimalist packaging to limit waste. Formulated with 20% milk and organic, local, raw materials, the beautiful soaps are available at the Saturday morning market in Céret , BioSud 66 and the Christmas foie gras markets around the region.
