My wife and I both have a home office, so we weren’t, to be honest, looking forward to an Englishman working around the house for two weeks, with the noise and the dust and all, but as it turned out, we miss him already, and he left only yesterday. Malcolm is practically dustfree and lownoise, and he’s a great guy. I made lunch for the three of us every mid-day (hint!) ans sometimes we had a beer on the terrace after work, and each time it was interesting and fun. And oh: the shutters were done really well.

My shutters were certainly shabby after years of neglect and harsh sunlight, and there were lots of them. Malcolm took on the project. Careful planning, patience and thoughtful expertise brought a great result – a house looking in bandbox shape at a reasonable price. “Un tout harmonieux”, dirait-on! Malcolm is easy going and flexible in his dealings, but rigorous in the application of his craftsmanship.
Malcolm completely refurbished all the shutters on our villa with 16+ shutters. He was excellent with colour choice suggestions, methods of repair and implementation. Highly recommend.

Malcolm has done a fabulous job of helping us to make our new home ours. A change from the drab orange shutters to the new bleu Provence in just over a week. We bought the paint and he did the rest, including making a brand new door to hide the gas bottles. It’s clean, bright and new. He also put up with four of us working on the roof, gutters, metalwork and garden all around him, it didn’t put him up nor down! Highly recommended and lovely to work with. Many thanks Malcolm!

Our shutters were looking very shabby indeed, we had done nothing to them in 15 years and one particularly exposed shutter had rotted away at the bottom and would not even shut. Malcolm gave us a very reasonable quote and we entrusted him the repair while we were away. We set a date and Malcolm attended and completed the work as arranged. Malcolm sanded and repainted shutters, window frame and ironwork. I am delighted with the result. His work is thorough and professional. Above all he was a delight to have around in my small house. I have asked him to come back to repaint the front of the house.
Ten of our shutters needed rotten timbers replacing; one or two I thought were possibly past saving. Over three days Malcolm repaired them all to look good as new. The price he quoted us was extremely reasonable, particularly as it included a return visit a month later to re-hang the upstairs shutters after I had re-painted them! I can positively recommend Shabby Shutters.
In June ’17 Malcolm (of Shabby Shutters) repaired four of my shutters which over the years had become rotten at the bottom with the wood badly broken up. After working on them for a day and a half I had newly restored,solid shutters that were as good as new, all for a reasonable price. Would definately use Shabby Shutters in future if needed.

I had to have four sets of wooden shutters for four very large sets of French Windows (in keeping with the building’s regulations) and received several extortionate quotes for them to be made and fitted.
Malcolm made the shutters and fitted them for a third of the price of the lowest quote I received and they are perfect. As Malcolm has said they are exposed to very extreme weather conditions and as they are wooden one can expect them to expand and shrink initially until they settle.
I would definitely recommend Shabby Shutters and hope that Malcolm will continue helping me with the maintenance of my shutters!
