Save the world, one plastic bottle at a time!

Remember your dream to change the world? Why not start on 9 April*?
The village of Argeles-sur-Mer is hosting a beach party with a difference: to rid the coast of plastic rubbish. Dress code: tennis shoes and garden gloves. (Rubbish sacks will be provided by the organizers.)
As part of the yearly Enfants de la Mer events, celebrating nature and protecting the environment, Initiatives Océanes is calling on volunteers of all ages to help clean up the coastline. The aim is to collect non-organic litter, mainly plastic bottles and bags, which pollute our seas and present dangers to flora, fauna and your children’s futures.
On Saturday 9 April meet at the parking du Bois des Pins at 9h30 at the Initiatives Océanes stand. There you will be given information on your mission, assigned a partner and grouped by sector of the Argeles coastline, from the mouth of the Tech to Racou Beach.
In the spirit of good ecological practice, the rubbish will be collected in reusable jute sacks which you empty into carts drawn by horses or donkeys (at Racou) and then sort into recycling containers.
After your morning’s efforts, you are invited to an apéro at 12h30 at the wooden cabin of Enfants de la Mer at the end of the promenade. Why not bring your family and a picnic and make a day of it?
