Musée d’art Hyacinthe Rigaud The newly-renovated museum is nestled in the heart of old Perpignan, in a quartier dating from as far back as the XII century. The site now also includes the historic hôtel de Lazerme and the hôtel de Mailly, which both began as private homes to two of the most influential intellectuals of Perpignan’s rennaissance period in the XVII century.
The museum began housing personal art collections in 1833, growing in variety and diversity over the years. It now boasts a floor space of 1400m² and an impressive array of both permanent and temporary exhibitions. A creative melting pot of Hispanic, Italian, Flemish… and of course, local greats such as the museum’s namesake, Hyacinthe Rigaud, and the revolutionary Aristide Maillol.
Their permanent collection includes: ♦ Baroque ♦ Gothic ♦ Modern ♦ Contemporary
And they present two temporary exhibitions each year.
Future exhibitions include Jean and Jacques Capdeville (December – May) and Raoul Dufy (June – November 2018).
