If you’re planning to fly with Ryanair after 3rd November 2025, you can leave your printer at home. From this date, the airline is going 100% digital with boarding passes. That means no more paper cards at the gate – your smartphone will be your ticket to board. This was due to be rolled out in September but was delayed.
Why the Change?
Ryanair says the move is all about making travel simpler, cheaper, and greener.
* 🌍 Greener: Cutting out paper passes will save over 300 tonnes of paper waste each year.
* 💶 Cheaper: With no need for printed passes, Ryanair is scrapping most airport check-in fees.
* 📱 Easier: Everything you need for your flight – boarding pass, live flight updates, gate info – will now be in the myRyanair app.
What This Means for You
From November, when you check in online you’ll find your boarding pass in the Ryanair app instead of on paper. At the airport, just open the app and scan your digital pass at security and at the gate.
A few tips to make the switch stress-free:
✅ Download the myRyanair app before you fly.
✅ Check in online as usual and save your pass in the app.
✅ Keep your phone charged (a portable charger is a handy travel companion).
✅ Turn on notifications so you don’t miss gate changes or boarding updates.
But What If I Don’t Have a Smartphone?
Ryanair hasn’t shared exact details yet, but in practice there will likely still be help available at airports for exceptional cases. For the vast majority of travellers though, the expectation is clear: your phone is now your boarding pass.
The End of an Era (and Some Paper Waste!)
For years, many of us have nervously clutched that printed sheet of paper on the way to the gate, worried it might get lost or crumpled. Now, all you’ll need is your phone – something most of us never travel without anyway.
It’s a big change, but one that promises a smoother experience, fewer queues, and a greener way to fly.
So, from 3rd November 2025, boarding with Ryanair really will be as simple as: Check in. Tap your app. Fly. ✈️
