The carte Vitale app

From March 18th, 2025, all holders of the the credit card-format identity card (CNIe) can register their carte Vitale on their phone via the France Identité app.

Equipped with a  high level of security,  use it in a similar to your credit cards or supermarket loyalty cards etc

it guarantees the same functions as the physical card: identification with the Assurance Maladie, reimbursement of healthcare costs via teletransmission, etc

How do I activate the carte Vitale app?

You need an ameli account and your electronic identity card. This can be installed on your phone via the France Identité application (on Android or iOS). You must have an identity card in bank card format.

The carte Vitale application can be downloaded free of charge..

Download the carte Vitale app and start the activation process.
– At the identity verification stage, click on the “M’identifier avec France Identité” option. You will then be redirected to the France Identité application.
– Scan your identity card.
– Enter your personal code.
– Start the contactless reading of your identity card.
– You will then be redirected to the carte Vitale application to complete the activation of your card.
