Saint Jordi in Argelès sur Mer
Romance and Catalan culture combine in Argelès-sur-Mer for the annual Sant Jordi celebrations on the weekend of 22nd & 23rd April.
Be swept of your feet in a whirlwind of knightly chivalry, roses, literature and live entertainment… there’s plenty of fun for the whole family.
Saturday 22nd
Watch out, watch out, there’s a dragon about – and we don’t mean the rugby players! Oh no, this is a real dragon, straight out of the fairy tales and landed at the Casa de l’Albera.
Channel your inner-knight and join the brave Sant Jordi in affronting this magnificent beast!
Sunday 23rd
La place Gambetta will be festooned with decorations depicting the legend of Catalonia’s patron saint.
What’s more, rose petals and book stands will be scattered around the square, perfect for strolling in the springtime sunshine.
As with all Catalan celebrations, there will be Sardane dancing, music and apéritifs, with an appearance from the brave knight himself at 5.20pm.
