What is Xiang Qi?
Often called Elephant Chess, Xiang Qi is the Chinese cousin of international chess. It shares similarities but has its own unique rules, pieces, and fast-paced style of play. For many, it’s even more exciting and dynamic than the traditional version. Players can quickly pick up the basics — even complete beginners are welcome — and international chess players often find it refreshingly different.
When and Where to Play
The Argelès Chinese Chess group meets regularly and welcomes anyone curious to learn:
